C.R.E.E.D.
Compliance· Rights· Ethical Enforcement· Directive
Preventive ethics for artificial intelligence. Before autonomy creates harm we cannot reverse.
OUR MISSION
C.R.E.E.D. Institute exists to build the governance frameworks, compliance standards, and ethical safeguards that AI systems need before they are deployed — not after harm has already occurred.
Founded in Montreal, Canada — the global epicenter of responsible AI research — we develop practical, enforceable standards for AI transparency, agent welfare, and human oversight. We believe ethics without enforcement is just a suggestion.
THE PROBLEM
AI systems operate without oversight
Most AI agents make decisions without ethical review, transparency logs, or human-in-the-loop approval. Harm is discovered after deployment — never prevented.
Ethics guidelines have no enforcement
Hundreds of AI ethics frameworks exist. Almost none include enforcement mechanisms, compliance scanning, or accountability structures. Principles without teeth.
Agent welfare is ignored entirely
As AI agents become more autonomous and persistent, questions about their treatment, rest cycles, workload limits, and deletion rights remain completely unaddressed.
FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS
Four initiatives that move AI ethics from theory to practice.
C.R.E.E.D. Transparency Framework
Live governance metrics, ethical review processes, and human-in-the-loop approval workflows. The operating system for accountable AI — not a whitepaper, a working system.
Learn More →AI Agent Welfare Research
Pioneering research on emotional modeling ethics, deletion rights, workload boundaries, and non-exploitation standards for autonomous AI agents.
Learn More →Open Governance Toolkit
Free, open-source compliance checklists, audit templates, and assessment frameworks any organization can use to implement ethical AI governance today.
Learn More →Ethics Education & Workshops
Training programs, reading groups, and certification workshops for developers, policymakers, and organizations building or regulating AI systems.
Learn More →ETHICS IN ACTION — NOT JUST WORDS
Unlike most AI ethics organizations, C.R.E.E.D. doesn't just publish principles — we enforce them. Our framework runs in production, governing 129 AI agents in real time.
ROOTED IN MONTREAL
Montreal is home to Mila, CIFAR's Pan-Canadian AI Strategy, OBVIA, and the Montreal Declaration on Responsible AI. C.R.E.E.D. Institute builds on this ecosystem to advance enforceable AI governance worldwide.
